For this transformer change out; 4 x RG-258 Durapac 25 ton cylinders with stabilising bases, four way manifold and an electric pump were required to manoeuvre the transformer into position.
The transformer was loaded onto rated I-beams which were slowly driven into the yard with a remote controlled caterpillar track machine.
30 ton load skates were used to manoeuvre the transformer into position.
Then the 4 x Durapac RG-258 cylinders and 4 x VCV-66 four-way manifolds were used to carefully lower the transformer onto the final resting position on the concrete pad.
This method was more economical than hiring expensive overhead cranes and much safer considering the high overhead lines in the substation.
