A busy, major city transport bus workshop had a challenge with lifting up buses in their pits, due to the low clearance height of the buses. To get stands or jacks underneath the correct supporting beams they needed a way of lifting the buses up, just enough. The standard bottle jacks they assessed were all too high.
The Durapac KPL-Series Kevlar® Power Lift Airbags were the ideal solution as they were already using pneumatic tools which can be a safer option as opposed to electric or hydraulic systems. Airbags are compact and light weight for service vehicles, safe to operate remotely with a hand pendant control (also pneumatically controlled).
Several 25.2 tonne (KPL25) and 33 tonne (KPL33) airbags were used for the application. The majority of the standard buses tare weights were around 9.5 tonne.
